Immunisations and Vaccinations

Vaccines are a way of protecting yourself from dangerous and critical diseases that can cause serious damage to your health and wellbeing. Patients with a long-term condition are at a higher risk than those who do not and are urged to have their usual vaccinations each year to which they are eligible for.

There are many fears and misconceptions around vaccinations and quite a lot of them have been proven wrong by the NHS.

Vaccines are important and have been used so successfully in England, they prevent more than 5,000 deaths and more than 100,000 hospital admissions a year.

Here’s a quick run down of what vaccines can and cannot do:

Can

  • Protect you and your child from serious and life-threatening diseases
  • Protect other people within the community who cannot have vaccines by helping to stop diseases being spread
  • Reduce or even get rid of some diseases if enough people are vaccinated

Cannot

  • Does not cause Autism – studies have found no evidence of a link between MR vaccine and autism
  • Does not contain any ingredients that cause harm – only the essentials!
  • Does not overload or weaken the immune system so it is safe to give several vaccines at a time.

Childhood Vaccinations

Get Your Child Their Vaccination!

It is paramount that your child gets their necessary vaccinations as it provides the best support and protection against diseases and infections.

The MMR is a vital and powerful vaccination that protects your child against deadly diseases such as Measles, Mumps and Rubella.

Over 99% of those who have 2 doses of the vaccine will be protected against measles and rubella

We know your child’s health is your top priority and so protecting them from serious diseases is incredibly important. That is why the NHS offer a free childhood vaccination programme, protecting your child from certain illnesses.
